So recently I've been really excited about the summer because I want to do a lot of 3-7 day hiking trips across the eastern US.
Can anyone recommend me some good hiking spots or tips?
Also, hoping to invest in some good gear, so far I have a hand-me-down backpack and sleeping bag from an uncle, a tent, stove+cookware, camelbak and nalgenes, and stuffsacks. I'm looking into water filtration systems as water is kind of important sometimes.
Cheers.
For water filtration, I would recommend the latest MSR portable unit. The threads of the outlet match matches the standard nalgene bottle. Also, the filters are field-regeneratable. Message me if you want specific links or recommendations
ReplyDeleteThe Adirondacks are beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteI have been looking to backpack this summer as well, but I was thinking in Europe as opposed to here in the US.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I would suggest trying the Adirondack Trail, or just the Long trail too!
well,im outside the US so i'd recommend google already ;)
ReplyDeleteGo hiking in Morocco - I did the Jebel Toubkal ascent a few years back and it was incredible.
ReplyDeletei loved hiking and camping so much when i was a kid...now my desk job has kind of taken away that youthful lust :(
ReplyDeleteAh, I can't recommend anything in the US, there's some pretty interesting places in the UK. The only thing I can suggest is getting some friends and finding abandoned places, usually buildings. I heard there's loads in the US.
ReplyDeleteYosemite National Park in California.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, keep it up mate!
ReplyDeleteWhere would you yourself rec getting gear for something like this? I don't want to go out to Dick's Sporting Goods and look like I don't know what I'm doing
ReplyDeleteCheck out Eastern Mountain Sports or REI's websites, and remember, ALWAYS check the reviews on items, they are all truthful accounts of people's encounters and pros/cons of the gear.
